New Archive page

In between various other bits and pieces, I've finally managed to get together an archive page with help from the wonderful Amy Balderston who took the photos. There's a link on the side bar but the address is http://abcarchive.blogspot.com/. Let me know what you think :)

(sub)Missive preview

As promised here are the details of the (sub)Missive exhibition:

(sub)Missive is the culmination of a mail art project in which artists from the UK, Europe, US, Canada and Australia each collaborated with an artist partner to create a new book work. Using the social networking forum as a platform for collaboration, artists investigated the dissemination of ideas with particular reference to (mis)communication and power relations.

Taking the hierarchical construct as a brief, each participant devised a set of instructions ranging from the single word to the diagrammatic and distributed them to their collaborative partner. The results of this experiment will be displayed as part of the 12th International Contemporary Artists Book Fair from Friday 6th till Wednesday 18th March 2009 @ Corridor Gallery, School Of Design, University of Leeds, LS2 9JT.

Preview: Friday 6th March 6-8pm
Exhibition continues till Wednesday 18th March
Opening times: Mon-Fri 10am till 5pm
An e-flyer with details of the full programme is available at http://www.leeds.ac.uk/fine_art/events

(sub)Missive exhibition

The results of the (sub)Missive exhibition will be exhibited alongside the Leeds International Artist Book fair. We are also working on organising a private view which will hopefully be at 6pm on Friday 6th March to coincide with the first day of the fair. There will also be another exhibition opening of Chinese books curated by Chris Taylor and John Macdowall who organise the book fair as part of their PAGES project. So all in all, lots of creative endeavours to whet your book art appetites. I will be sending out an invite on facebook and yahoo with more info nearer the time.

As well as this, Tom Hobson, one of the artists involved in the project is organising for the books to travel to Chapel Arts Centre in Cardiff for the end of March to be exhibited as part of their new book arts venture. If anyone has more ideas or contacts for exhibiting please comment or get in touch.

First post

Firstly, thanks for the invitation Louise. It's great to see that there's a solid book arts community out there, in Web 2.0 land...

I think it's a great place for us to share ideas, techniques, skills and knowledge, not to mention news of fairs and exhibition opportunities.

Is anyone exhibiting at Leeds in March?
